Nationwide Enrollment Period Kicks Off June 9
The Department of Education (DepEd) has officially announced that the nationwide enrollment period for public schools will run from June 9 to June 13. This enrollment window is vital for parents and guardians who need to register their children for the upcoming school year. DepEd expects a surge in student registrations following the early registration phase conducted earlier this year.
To ensure a smooth and efficient process during the nationwide enrollment period, DepEd has released updated guidelines on the school calendar and academic activities for School Year (SY) 2025–2026. These guidelines aim to help schools and community learning centers better manage academic schedules while maximizing instructional time.
Enrollment Details and Requirements
Classes for SY 2025–2026 will begin on Monday, June 16. Families are encouraged to complete registration within the official enrollment dates to avoid any delays. Parents should prepare all necessary documents ahead of time. For added convenience, public schools will provide both online and face-to-face enrollment options.
DepEd specifically urges early registration for incoming kindergarten students, first-time basic education learners, transferees to public schools, and students entering Grades 1, 7, and 11. The agency also welcomes potential learners from the Alternative Learning System (ALS). Early registration generally occurs from the last Saturday of January to the last Friday of February, or as scheduled by DepEd. Should disruptions arise, the Schools Division Office may extend the registration period.
Students moving up to Grades 2 to 6, 8 to 10, and 12 are considered automatically “pre-registered,” simplifying their enrollment.
School Year 2025–2026 Official Calendar and Guidelines
Earlier in April, DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara issued DepEd Order No. 012, s. 2025, outlining the “Multi-Year Implementing Guidelines on the School Calendar and Activities.” These guidelines set the school year to start on June 16, 2025, and conclude on March 31, 2026. The academic calendar will include up to 197 class days, encompassing End-of-School-Year ceremonies.
Private schools, Philippine Schools Overseas, and state or local universities and colleges offering basic education may adopt these guidelines, provided they meet the required number of class days and align with the official opening date. Should any unavoidable deviations occur, schools are required to notify their regional offices in advance.
Returning to Pre-Pandemic Normalcy
The upcoming school year marks a return to the pre-pandemic academic calendar. In-person learning will continue as the primary mode of instruction. However, DepEd remains prepared to use Distance Learning Delivery Modalities such as Modular Distance Learning, Online Distance Learning, TV-Based Instruction, Radio-Based Instruction, or blended approaches if in-person classes are suspended due to emergencies.
Mandatory Health Assessments for All Learners
DepEd has also mandated health assessments for all students during Brigada Eskwela and within the first three weeks of classes. These assessments, conducted by school health personnel in coordination with class advisers, will include physical exams, body system evaluations, vision and hearing screenings, oral health checks, immunization reviews, and medical and family history evaluations.
Brigada Eskwela, also known as National Schools Maintenance Week, is an annual event that unites communities and school stakeholders to prepare public schools for the new academic year.
