NBI Holds Suspect in 2020 Lawyer Killing
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has taken custody of a suspect linked to the 2020 killing of lawyer Joey Luis Wee in Cebu City. Authorities identified the man as Manuelito Melia Camacho, who was detained at the Airport Police in Pasay City.
The NBI’s International Airport Investigation Division (NBI-IAID) served Camacho with an arrest warrant issued by the Cebu City Regional Trial Court (RTC). “During his arrest, Camacho admitted that he is the same person charged in the above-named case,” officials confirmed.
Arrest and Identity Uncovered
Before the NBI-IAID took custody, Camacho was using the alias Jay-R Reyes while held at the Airport Police for charges including theft and resistance to authority. A confrontation between him and a companion led to the revelation of his true identity.
The Airport Police’s Police Intelligence and Investigation Division (PIID) verified Camacho’s identity after the scuffle. Record checks revealed that “Monching” had an outstanding warrant for murder issued by the RTC Branch 10 in Cebu City.
Upon this discovery, the PIID informed the Cebu District Office (CEBDO) of the positive identification. CEBDO confirmed that Jay-R Reyes is indeed Manuelito Melia Camacho.
