Negros Occidental Police Director Relieved and Transferred
BACOLOD CITY — Col. Rainerio de Chavez confirmed late Thursday night that he has been relieved as the director of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO). He will soon be transferred to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) headquarters located in Metro Manila.
Officials reported that de Chavez was summoned to Camp Crame on Thursday, where he was informed about the transfer, which will take effect on Friday. “It’s a command decision that we cannot refuse, and it is also for advancement,” he explained.
New Role in CIDG Awaits
Though Col. de Chavez did not reveal his exact new position within the CIDG, he described it as a “sensitive position.” Community members said he expressed eagerness to support the higher headquarters through this new role, highlighting his commitment to service.

Col. de Chavez has yet to learn who will succeed him as NOCPPO director. He plans to discuss the leadership transition with Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson on Friday. Local leaders noted that this change marks a significant moment for the provincial police office.

De Chavez took command of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office in February 2024. Prior to this, he led the Batangas and Rizal provincial police offices, gaining extensive experience in law enforcement leadership.
He is an alumnus of the Philippine National Police Academy, Class of 2000, which laid the foundation for his distinguished career. Sources said his transfer to the CIDG reflects trust in his abilities to handle critical assignments.
