Neighbor Shoots Businessman Dead in Ilocos Sur
In Santa, Ilocos Sur, a tragic incident unfolded on Sunday night, June 1, when a 52-year-old businessman was fatally shot by his neighbor. The shooting occurred in Sitio San Jose, Barangay Magsaysay District, highlighting a grave case of violence between neighbors.
The victim, identified as Desiderio Ballalo, was reportedly shot multiple times by the suspect while attending to his store. Local sources said the suspect, dressed in a dark blue sweater, black pants, and a black cap, first purchased soft drinks and candy from Ballalo’s stall. Shortly after, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the suspect approached Ballalo while he was washing dishes and opened fire.

Authorities recovered three empty 9mm shell casings at the scene. Ballalo succumbed to his injuries instantly. The suspect was promptly arrested during a follow-up operation, according to police reports. However, the identity of the suspect remains undisclosed pending formal murder charges filed in court.
