New Low Pressure Area Detected Outside PAR
MANILA, Philippines — A new low pressure area was spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) early Thursday, local weather authorities reported. This newest low pressure area has raised concerns due to its location and potential development.
According to sources, as of 8 a.m., the low pressure area was located approximately 1,020 kilometers northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon. Meteorologists have assigned it a medium chance to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours. Authorities urge the public to closely monitor weather updates for any changes.
Weather Forecast and Impact on Regions
Earlier reports indicated that the southwest monsoon, locally called the habagat, will continue to bring rain showers to several parts of Luzon, as well as selected areas in the Visayas and Mindanao. Despite this, improved weather is expected in Metro Manila, the Bicol Region, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa, offering some relief to residents in those areas.
Local officials noted that the habagat season has caused significant rainfall, and the combined effects of recent tropical cyclones have led to serious impacts nationwide. The country recently faced Tropical Cyclones Crising (international name: Wipha), Dante (Francisco), and Typhoon Emong (Co-May). These events, along with the ongoing habagat, have sadly resulted in 37 reported fatalities as of Thursday.
Safety Measures and Public Advisory
Authorities encourage everyone to stay vigilant and updated on weather developments. Early preparations and awareness are key to minimizing risks during this active weather period. Residents in vulnerable areas are advised to heed local warnings and take necessary precautions.
