Tragic Motorcycle Accident Claims Newborn’s Life in Quezon
LUCENA CITY – A heartbreaking motorcycle accident in Tagkawayan, Quezon, led to the death of a three-day-old baby boy and left his mother injured on June 25, local sources said. The incident unfolded along Quirino Highway in Barangay Rizal, involving the motorcyclist Ruben and his live-in partner Janeth, who was carrying their infant son Ronald wrapped in a blanket.
According to officials, Ruben was driving at around 5:50 p.m. when a portion of the blanket hanging from the side became entangled in the motorcycle’s rear tire. This caused the newborn to be pulled from Janeth’s arms, tragically getting caught in the wheel.

Janeth sustained injuries but is currently receiving medical care. Local officials expressed deep sorrow over the loss, emphasizing the importance of safety precautions for families riding motorcycles. This unfortunate case highlights the dangers of unsecured items and the vulnerability of infant passengers on two-wheel vehicles.
Safety Reminders for Motorcycle Riders with Infants
Motorcycle accidents remain a significant concern in Quezon and across the Philippines.
