NLEx Marilao Northbound Fully Passable Again
MANILA, Philippines — The North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) Marilao northbound lanes are now fully open to traffic following significant repairs to the Marilao Bridge. All four northbound lanes are passable once more after a container truck collided with the bridge’s underside, causing serious damage.
The incident disrupted travel on the NLEx Marilao northbound segment last week, but the expressway operator confirmed on Monday that major structural repairs were completed by midnight of June 23, 2025.
Swift Repairs Restore Traffic Flow on NLEx Marilao Northbound
NLEx Corporation stated that the repair work was expedited to minimize inconveniences to motorists. “All four lanes of the NLEx Marilao Northbound have since been passable to motorists,” the company said. The damage resulted from a truck violating regulations, which struck the bridge’s underside.
Authorities thanked the public for their patience during the repair period and pledged to enhance safety and traffic management along critical stretches of the expressway.
Details of the NLEx Marilao Northbound Accident
The accident happened on June 18 when a container truck hit the underside of the Marilao Bridge on the NLEx northbound lane. This impact caused a girder to fall onto a vehicle passing below, tragically killing one passenger and injuring six others.
Local sources reported that the truck driver and vehicle were detained following the crash. The incident is the second of its kind this year at the same location.
Previous Incident Causing Extended Lane Closures
In March, an oversized truck struck the Marilao Bridge, resulting in a two-week closure of several lanes for both northbound and southbound traffic. This earlier accident caused heavy traffic congestion and underscored the need for stricter enforcement of vehicle regulations on NLEx.
With the latest repairs complete, traffic has returned to normal, helping ease the flow of vehicles and restoring convenience for commuters and transporters alike.
