No Tropical Cyclone Within Philippine Area of Responsibility: Weather Update
Despite the absence of any tropical cyclone or low-pressure area (LPA) within or near the Philippine Area of Responsibility, rains continue to affect some regions. According to local weather authorities, prevailing weather systems are causing rainfall in parts of the country.
“Wala na tayong mino-monitor na bagyo o low-pressure area sa loob at labas ng ating area of responsibility,” a weather specialist stated, confirming no active storms in or around the Philippine jurisdiction.
Intertropical Convergence Zone Brings Rain
However, the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), a band of converging winds near the equator, remains active and influences weather conditions. This system is responsible for the ongoing rain in Mindanao and Eastern Visayas.
“Ngunit makakaranas pa rin ng pag-ulan ang buong bahagi ng Mindanao at Eastern Visayas dulot po ito ng inter tropical convergence zone or ITCZ,” the expert explained, highlighting the persistent wet weather in these areas.
Southwest Monsoon Not Affecting the Country
Contrary to common expectations during this season, the southwest monsoon or “habagat” is not currently impacting any part of the Philippines.
“Samantala, hindi rin nakakaapekto ang southwest monsoon or habagat sa ano mang bahagi ng ating bansa,” the specialist clarified, emphasizing the absence of the usual monsoon rains.
Easterlies Dominate Luzon and Visayas Weather
Instead, easterly winds from the Pacific Ocean are prevailing over most parts of Luzon and some areas in the Visayas. These warm winds contribute to cloudy skies and rain chances, especially in extreme northern Luzon.
“At easterlies po ang umiiral dito sa malaking bahagi ng Luzon maging sa ilang areas pa ng Visayas,” she said, adding that this weather pattern will continue to bring overcast skies and increased chances of rainfall.
“Magdudulot rin po ang easterlies ngayong araw ng maulap na kalangitan at mataas na tyansa ng mga pag-ulan dito sa bahagi ng extreme northern Luzon,” she added, noting the expected weather for the region.
