Possible Tropical Cyclone Activity in June
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecasts that one or two tropical cyclones may develop or enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in June. This projection is based on historical data and typical weather patterns observed during this month.
According to weather specialists, tropical cyclones in June usually follow one of four main routes. Some storms enter the PAR and move toward the Philippine landmass but then change course before making landfall, heading instead toward Taiwan or Japan. Others enter the PAR but recurve without making landfall, proceeding toward Japan.
Tropical Cyclone Paths and Landfall Possibilities
Some tropical cyclones that do make landfall tend to pass through the southern part of Luzon and then proceed toward northern Vietnam or Hong Kong. Alternatively, they may travel through the eastern to northern parts of the Visayas before moving toward the same destinations.
If one or two tropical cyclones enter the PAR next month, PAGASA will assign local names from its official 2025 list. The first two names on this list are “Auring” and “Bising.” It’s noteworthy that no tropical cyclones have entered the PAR since the start of the year.
Preparing for the June Tropical Cyclones
Local experts emphasize the importance of monitoring these developments closely, especially since the paths of tropical cyclones can shift rapidly. Communities in potentially affected areas should stay informed and ready to respond to forecasts and warnings.
