One-Stop Immigration Services Enhance ZamboEcoZone Investment
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has committed to establishing one-stop immigration services at the Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone (ZamboEcoZone) to simplify processes for foreign investors. This new initiative aims to make the Philippines more welcoming to business opportunities and improve the ease of doing business in the region.
Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony M. Viado signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) on June 11 with ZamboEcoZone Chairman and Administrator Raul M. Regolanda. “This is good news not only for Zamboanga, but for our national economy,” Viado said, emphasizing the importance of efficient immigration services in attracting foreign capital.
Streamlining Foreign Investment Processes
Under the agreement, the BI’s one-stop shop will offer comprehensive immigration processing and documentation for foreigners who plan to invest or work inside the economic zone. This service will help investors bring in skilled talent, operate smoothly, and expand their businesses with confidence.
“We recognize that efficient immigration services are crucial to attracting and retaining foreign businesses, especially in emerging regional economic hubs like Zamboanga,” Viado added. The one-stop immigration services mark a significant step toward making the Philippines more investor-friendly by reducing bureaucratic hurdles.
ZamboEcoZone’s Strategic Role in Regional Growth
The ZamboEcoZone, a government-established economic hub in Mindanao, is designed to promote trade, create jobs, and foster regional development. Strategically positioned near international shipping lanes, it offers competitive incentives tailored for export-oriented and logistics companies.
Local leaders noted that this partnership with the BI will strengthen the zone’s appeal to foreign enterprises, boosting economic activity and regional growth. By providing a seamless immigration process, the zone can attract diverse investments and encourage sustainable development.
