Orange Rainfall Warning Affects Zambales and Luzon
As of late Friday evening, an orange rainfall warning remains active in Zambales amid the impacts of Tropical Storm Crising and the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, local sources said. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) confirmed this in its 11 p.m. advisory.
The orange rainfall warning signals that intense rain between 15 millimeters and 30 millimeters is expected within one hour and may persist for the following two hours. This warning highlights the possibility of heavy rainfall leading to flooding and other hazards.
Yellow Rainfall Warning Covers Metro Manila and Nearby Provinces
Meanwhile, a yellow rainfall warning continues over Metro Manila, Pampanga, Tarlac, Bulacan, Cavite, and Batangas. Areas under this warning typically experience rainfall ranging from 7.5 millimeters to 15 millimeters within one hour, with rain expected to last for the next two hours, local leaders noted.
Additionally, light to moderate rains are currently affecting Rizal, Nueva Ecija, Quezon, and Laguna and may continue for up to three more hours, sources added.
Understanding Rainfall Warnings
The orange rainfall warning is issued when heavy rain is imminent, signaling the public to prepare for possible flooding or water accumulation. On the other hand, the yellow rainfall warning advises caution as moderate rain can still cause localized flooding and slippery roads.
Residents in affected areas are encouraged to stay alert and follow updates from authorities, especially as Tropical Storm Crising enhances rainfall through the habagat.
