Over P20B Barangay Projects Completed: A Closer Look
More than P20 billion worth of barangay projects have been successfully completed in the last three years, local leaders noted. The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) reported that these efforts were part of the Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP) from 2022 to 2025.
The program achieved the completion of 5,590 projects nationwide. This included 2,933 farm-to-market roads, 877 water and sanitation systems, 664 electrification initiatives, 606 health stations, and 510 school buildings. Such developments are vital in improving rural infrastructure and services.
Steady Funding Boosts Barangay Development
The budget allocated for the SBDP rose steadily, starting from P4 million in 2022 and reaching P7.5 million in 2024. This sustained funding ensures that barangays have the necessary infrastructure and services to foster peace and support community growth.
Officials emphasized that these investments are part of a broader government strategy to strengthen communities from the ground up. By enhancing basic facilities and services, the program aims to maintain lasting peace and encourage development in local areas.
Impact on Local Communities
Farm-to-market roads have opened new opportunities for farmers to bring their goods to market efficiently. Water and sanitation projects improved health and hygiene, while electrification initiatives brought power to underserved areas. Health stations and school buildings have also contributed to better public health and education.
Local leaders noted, “This sustained funding is essential in ensuring barangays have the infrastructure and services needed to support peace and development.” The ongoing projects exemplify the government’s commitment to building resilient and thriving communities.
