P360-M Aid for Flood Victims Released by DSWD
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is set to release a total of P360 million in aid to victims of recent floods, local leaders said. Leyte 1st District Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez confirmed that this assistance aims to support families affected by Tropical Storm Crising and the heavy southwest monsoon rains.
Romualdez emphasized that the P360 million aid for flood victims will be distributed across 36 congressional districts through the Ayuda Para sa Kapos ang Kita (AKAP) program. This includes cash grants, food packs, and other essential relief supplies to help displaced residents recover quickly.
Coordinated Disaster Response and Immediate Relief
Each district will receive P10 million in direct financial assistance for residents impacted by the flooding. “This is just the beginning of our coordinated disaster response,” Romualdez stated. “This help could go a long way and this is not the last. What’s important is that people immediately feel the assistance from the Marcos administration.”
He reassured affected families, saying, “We want to assure each affected Filipino family that during calamities, the government of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is always ready to help. This is a reminder that you are not alone, we are with you during this time of recovery.”

Additional Emergency Support Efforts
Earlier relief actions included the deployment of hot meal food trucks to aid families hit hard by the monsoon rains in Metro Manila areas such as Barangay Malanday in Marikina City, Bagong Silangan Elementary School in Quezon City, and Barangay 420, Zone 43 in Manila. Romualdez noted, “We have learned that acting late makes it harder for people. That’s why as early as now, we have facilitated help so that people would not need to wait for the government.”
Due to persistent heavy rains, classes and government work were suspended in many areas on Tuesday. The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) had earlier suspended work and classes in Metro Manila and nearby provinces including Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Pangasinan, Tarlac, and Occidental Mindoro.
The House of Representatives also announced work suspension except for offices with essential functions. Since last Friday, heavy rains have affected large parts of Luzon due to the combined impact of Tropical Storm Crising and the southwest monsoon. Although Crising left Philippine waters Saturday morning, rains continue to affect multiple areas.
As of Tuesday, six fatalities have been confirmed, and over one million people remain affected by the flooding and storms, local authorities reported.
