Massive Destruction of Illegal Drugs in Cavite
Authorities recently destroyed illegal drugs worth P5.32 billion at the Integrated Waste Management, Inc. facility in Trece Martires City on May 20. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) led the operation, aiming to prevent these substances from returning to communities.
The event was attended by top officials, including PDEA’s Director General and leaders from the Philippine National Police Forensic Group and Cavite Police Provincial Office, along with the Dangerous Drugs Board Chair who delivered the keynote address.
Global Drug Trends and Local Efforts
During the ceremony, the Dangerous Drugs Board Chair highlighted the growing global drug challenges.
These words underscored the dedication to keeping communities safe.
Details of the Destroyed Illegal Drugs
The destroyed illegal drugs were seized during various anti-drug operations by PDEA and partner agencies. Some were court-ordered for destruction. The substances were carefully placed inside a chamber and completely incinerated.
Among the destroyed items were 2.23 metric tons of solid illegal drugs, including shabu, marijuana, ecstasy, cocaine, toluene, ketamine, and phenacetin. Additionally, 3.45 liters of liquid illegal drugs were eliminated through thermal decomposition. These included lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), liquid cocaine, liquid methamphetamine, liquid marijuana, and surrendered expired medicines.
Strengthening the Fight Against Illegal Drugs
According to local authorities, this event reinforces strong inter-agency cooperation and unity in combating illegal drugs. The coordinated efforts between agencies signify a determined stand against the drug menace in the region.
By destroying these substances, officials aim to ensure they never re-enter communities, thereby protecting public health and safety.
