P50 Increase in Daily Wage Metro Manila to Begin July 18
Starting July 18, workers in Metro Manila will see a P50 increase in their daily wage, local officials said. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) confirmed that this wage adjustment aims to ease living expenses for minimum wage earners.
The new wage rates affect minimum wage earners in the non-agriculture sector, raising their daily pay from P645 to P695. This change will help many workers cope with rising costs in the capital region.
Wage Increase Details for Other Sectors
In addition, those employed in agriculture, small retail or service establishments with 15 or fewer employees, and manufacturing companies with fewer than 10 workers will also benefit. Their daily wage will increase from P608 to P658. This adjustment aligns with Wage Order No. NCR-26, which the regional wage board approved on June 30.
Impact on Metro Manila Workers
The DOLE estimates that around 1.2 million workers in Metro Manila will benefit from this wage hike. The government expects this change to improve the livelihood of many families amid the current economic challenges.
Local leaders noted, “This increase is a welcome relief for many workers struggling with the rising cost of living.” They also emphasized the importance of continuing to support laborers through fair compensation.
