Major Drug Bust in Maguindanao Norte
Anti-narcotics agents successfully arrested two suspected drug peddlers during an entrapment operation in Parang town, Maguindanao del Norte. Officials reported the seizure of P6.8 million worth of shabu (crystal meth) from the suspects on Monday.
The operation, led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM), involved an undercover agent who received a sachet of the suspected shabu from the suspects in Barangay Parang. “They were immediately handcuffed after the buy-bust,” sources said.
Details of the Arrest and Seizure
Authorities identified the suspects as Alias “Kintang,” 27, from Talitay, Maguindanao del Sur, and Alias “Alinor,” 30, from Kabacan, Cotabato Province. Agents confiscated one kilogram of suspected shabu, valued at P6.8 million, along with marked money, a motorcycle, and various personal belongings.
Community members noted that the suspects are currently detained at the Parang municipal police station while the investigation continues.
Ongoing Efforts Against Illegal Drugs in BARMM
Since January, over P80 million worth of shabu has been seized throughout the Bangsamoro region. This area includes Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, and Tawi-Tawi provinces, as well as the cities of Cotabato, Marawi, Lamitan, and the BARMM’s 8-town Special Geographic Area (SGA), officials reported.
