P705 Million Worth Illegal Drugs Seized Nationwide

Massive Illegal Drug Seizures Nationwide

Government anti-narcotics agencies successfully confiscated around P705 million worth of illegal drugs during intense nationwide operations from May 9 to 16. These high-impact efforts targeted various drug syndicates, resulting in significant breakthroughs in the fight against illegal substances.

During this week-long campaign, authorities seized a total of 103,727.58 grams of shabu, 94.68 grams of marijuana kush and dried leaves, 3,000 marijuana plants, and 1,000 grams of ephedrine. The operation combined 30 anti-drug actions, including 24 buy-bust operations, three search warrant executions, one marijuana eradication drive, one interdiction, and routine inspections at airports and seaports.

Key Arrests and Locations of Seizures

In the course of these operations, 41 high-value drug suspects were arrested. The detainees included 27 drug sellers, four drug den owners, six visitors of drug dens, two employees of these dens, and two individuals caught with illegal substances.

Reports indicate that the largest drug seizures happened in several regions, including the National Capital Region (NCR), Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Central Visayas, Cordillera, and Western Mindanao. Notably, major shabu busts occurred in Parañaque City; Angeles in Pampanga; Isabela in Basilan; Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu; and Norzagaray in Bulacan. Additionally, a marijuana eradication operation took place in Tinglayan, Kalinga.

Discovery of Clandestine Laboratory

Authorities also uncovered an abandoned illegal shabu laboratory in Antipolo, Rizal. This discovery highlights the ongoing efforts to dismantle drug manufacturing hubs that supply the illegal market.

One official involved in the campaign shared, “These operations led to the confiscation of shabu in large proportions and the finding of a drug laboratory.” The official emphasized the strategy focused on tracking and entrapping key figures in the drug supply chain.

Targeting Drug Supply Networks

Law enforcement continues to pursue individuals at the top of the drug trade, aiming to dismantle their networks, shut down manufacturing facilities, and close secret dens that serve as hubs for drug use and distribution.

These recent high-volume seizures mark a significant step forward in the government’s campaign to reduce drug supply across the country. Continuous collaboration among various agencies and persistent intelligence work remain crucial to sustaining these gains.
