Massive P802 Million Shabu Found Abandoned on Bataan Shoreline
MARIVELES, Bataan — Authorities seized an estimated P802 million worth of suspected crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as shabu, abandoned along the shoreline of Barangay Sisiman on the morning of August 14. The discovery has raised concerns about drug trafficking activities in the area.
Police Brig. Gen. Rogelio Peñones, director of Central Luzon police, revealed that the large drug haul consisted of six sacks containing 118 neatly packed packages. The find came after a local resident alerted the Mariveles police about the suspicious items washed ashore.
Prompt Police Action Leads to Major Drug Recovery
Upon receiving the report, the town’s police immediately notified the Bataan police command center for support. However, officials are still investigating who abandoned the sacks on the beach. Authorities continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Community members recalled a similar event months earlier when fishermen from Mariveles handed over packs of shabu they found floating near Bajo de Masinloc in Zambales. These repeated discoveries hint at persistent drug smuggling routes through coastal areas.
Community Cooperation Praised by Authorities
Peñones praised the residents for their vigilance, emphasizing that their cooperation with law enforcement was crucial in recovering the illegal drugs. “Their alertness played a key role in this operation,” officials reported.
The confiscated shabu has been forwarded to the Philippine National Police crime laboratory for thorough examination and further investigation. Authorities are determined to track down those responsible for this major drug shipment.
