Pag-IBIG Fund Supports Crising Victims with Calamity Loans
The Pag-IBIG Fund has announced new relief measures for members affected by Severe Tropical Storm Crising (internationally known as Wipha) and the southwest monsoon, locally called “habagat.” Members can now apply for calamity loans and housing loan insurance claims to help cover damages caused by these recent weather events.
With continuous heavy rains and two active tropical cyclones impacting the country, the agency urges affected members to take advantage of these financial assistance programs. The calamity loan aims to provide immediate relief to those whose homes and livelihoods have been disrupted.
How to Apply for the Calamity Loan
To avail of the calamity loan, applicants must complete the Calamity Loan Application Form and submit the following documents:
- Filled-out Calamity Loan Application Form
- Valid government-issued ID
- Proof of income or a certification from the employer
- Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card Plus
Housing Loan Insurance Claim Requirements
Members with Pag-IBIG housing loans who suffered property damage can also file insurance claims. For material damage under the All Risks Claim, the necessary documents include:
- Duly accomplished Non-Life Insurance Claim application
- Report of loss detailing the damage
- Cost estimates or bills for repairs, depending on the damage type:
- Total loss – contractor-signed cost estimates
- Partial damage – foreman or carpenter-signed estimates
- Colored photos showing the damage or proof of loss
- Certification from the barangay captain confirming the calamity impact
- Two valid IDs with signatures of the borrower or co-borrower (one photocopy, front side, in black and white)
Housing loan borrowers must file their claims within six months from the date of the calamity.
Where and How to Submit Applications
Applicants can submit their documents via email, at the nearest Pag-IBIG Fund branch, or through the Lingkod Pag-IBIG On Wheels service. The fund encourages members to process their applications promptly to receive timely assistance.
Impact of Crising and Habagat on Filipinos
According to local authorities, around 1.9 million Filipinos nationwide have been affected by Severe Tropical Storm Crising, the habagat, and a low-pressure area. Approximately 533,000 families have experienced disruptions due to these weather disturbances.
Currently, about 25,000 families are taking refuge in 732 evacuation centers, while another 21,000 families seek shelter outside government facilities. The situation highlights the urgent need for financial aid and housing protection for those displaced.
