On Labor Day, a powerful alliance was forged to tackle the Philippines’ pressing housing crisis. The Pag-IBIG Fund, National Housing Authority (NHA), and Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) joined forces to deliver nearly 8,000 new homes across key urban centers. This move is a major leap forward in the government’s ambitious Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program, aiming to bring affordable, quality housing within reach of more Filipino families.
The agreement spells out Pag-IBIG Fund’s crucial role in financing these housing developments led by NHA and SHFC. Key locations include Valenzuela City, San Fernando in Pampanga, Davao City, and Manila — areas primed for growth and demand. Among the projects is a 372-unit medium-rise condominium in Valenzuela, spearheaded by NHA. Meanwhile, SHFC will roll out mid- to high-rise developments with impressive targets: 3,440 units in San Fernando, 1,200 units in Davao’s Calinan district, and thousands more in Tondo and Sta. Mesa, Manila.
Secretary Jose Rizalino L. Acuzar, who chairs the Pag-IBIG Board and leads the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), stressed the unity of key housing agencies behind President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to close the housing gap. “We remain committed to ensuring every Filipino family has access to decent and affordable homes,” Acuzar declared.
Pag-IBIG Fund CEO Marilene C. Acosta highlighted the fund’s dual role: supporting large-scale development projects and extending affordable loans to individual beneficiaries. “This initiative reflects our dedication to improving the lives of Filipino workers,” Acosta said. “Together with NHA and SHFC, we’re not just building housing units — we’re building communities that uplift the nation.”
The new homes will be financed through Pag-IBIG’s Direct Developmental Loan Program, a tailored financing scheme for the 4PH Program. Beyond construction, Pag-IBIG will provide affordable end-user housing loans to qualified families, ensuring these homes are more than just structures — they become stepping stones to better futures.
As this partnership unfolds, expect these cities to witness transformative change. The dream of homeownership, once distant for many, is now closer than ever. The government’s pledge: no Filipino family should be left behind in the path toward decent, affordable shelter.
