Pamilya Pass 1+3 Promo Boosts Family Rides Every Sunday

Pamilya Pass 1+3 Promo Eases Sunday Family Travel

Malacañang recently announced the Pamilya Pass 1+3 promo, a family-friendly initiative for Metro Manila rail commuters every Sunday. This promo allows one paying passenger to bring up to three family members for free on MRT-3 and LRT lines 1 and 2. The good news is that the program requires no extra government spending, as it utilizes existing government-run train operations and taps into underused capacity on Sundays.

Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro clarified this during a press briefing. “Wala naman pong budget required for the MRT-3 and LRT-2 dahil government-run po ito,” she explained. She also noted that Sundays typically see lower ridership on these lines, making it an ideal time to launch this promo without affecting operations.

Promo Duration Aligns with Presidential Term

Castro further explained that the promo will run until June 2028, coinciding with the end of President Marcos’ term. “Nais po ng Pangulo na bigyan din po ng karapatan ang susunod na administrasyon kung ano po ang nanaisin nilang programa patungkol po dito,” she said. The President’s intention is to respect the next administration’s freedom to decide whether to continue or modify the program.

President Marcos Highlights Family Bonding Opportunity

On June 1, President Marcos emphasized the value of this promo in helping families spend more quality time together. “Alam naman natin na napakahirap ng oras ng mga komyuter. Madalas nating marinig wala na kaming oras sa pamilya,” he said candidly. He added, “Kaya bigyan natin ng chance para makasama ang inyong pamilya sa pamamagitan nitong Pamilya Pass 1+3 promo.”

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon reaffirmed the government’s commitment to affordable public transport. “Kabilin-bilinan ng Pangulong Bongbong Marcos na gawing mas abot-kaya ang pampublikong transportasyon,” he stated. He also highlighted that this initiative will help lessen the financial burden on families, allowing them to enjoy their Sundays more fully.

Benefits and Outlook

The Pamilya Pass 1+3 promo encourages families to make the most of their Sundays without added transportation costs. By maximizing unused train capacity, the government ensures efficiency without extra budget allocation. This move aligns with broader goals to improve accessibility and affordability in public transit.
