Parañaque City Launches Teleconsultation Center to Protect Children
The city government of Parañaque has taken a significant step to protect children’s welfare by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) and the Child Protection Network Foundation, Inc. This partnership aims to enhance children’s rights through the creation of a teleconsultation center.
This new initiative, known as the TeleCPU, will provide abused children with free and secure access to essential medical, legal, and psychological support via video conferencing. Local experts say this teleconsultation center will serve as a vital resource, enabling faster response and assistance for young victims.
Key Areas for Teleconsultation Center Implementation
The TeleCPU will be set up in four key barangays of Parañaque City: San Isidro, San Dionisio, Sun Valley, and Moonwalk. Community leaders believe that placing the centers in these locations will effectively reach children in need across the city.
According to officials, the TeleCPU aims to expedite recovery for abused and exploited children by offering immediate, comprehensive support remotely. This approach also ensures privacy and safety for the victims during consultations.
Collaborative Efforts to Uphold Children’s Rights
City officials have expressed their commitment to continue working with various institutions and organizations to ensure no child in Parañaque suffers from abuse. Sources familiar with the matter emphasize that this collaboration is a crucial part of the city’s ongoing efforts to uphold and strengthen children’s rights.
The MOA signing took place on Monday, May 19, at the Mayor’s Conference Room. Key signatories included city government representatives and project coordinators from UP-PGH and the Child Protection Network Foundation, marking a milestone in the city’s child protection program.
