Pasay Police Re-arrest Man for Theft at Cemetery
Operatives from the Pasay City Police Station Intelligence Section re-arrested a man with previous charges for illegal gambling and firearm possession. This time, the 21-year-old suspect, Cedrick, faces theft charges following an incident that went viral on social media. The arrest occurred on Monday, June 9, inside the Pasay City Public Cemetery.
Pasay City Police Chief Col. Joselito De Sesto said the suspect was caught at around 11:55 p.m. in Barangay 148, Pasay City. Cedrick was identified after a Facebook video uploaded by Daizy Vibes Vlog on June 4 showed him stealing a wallet from a victim named Mark Joseph. The footage captured Cedrick opening the victim’s small bag and taking P535 in cash while walking near EDSA by Red Hotel in Barangay 147.
Surveillance Leads to Arrest
The arrest followed a surveillance operation conducted by the Intelligence Section. They acted on reports that a group of men was involved in illegal gambling activities inside the cemetery. Upon being apprehended, Cedrick admitted to being the pickpocket in the viral video.
Col. De Sesto further revealed that Cedrick was previously arrested for illegal gambling on October 12, 2022. He was also charged for illegal gambling and violations of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (RA 10591) on June 7, 2024. Currently, Cedrick remains in custody at the Pasay City Police detention facility and has been formally charged with theft.
This case highlights ongoing efforts by local authorities to address crime in the city, especially in public areas like cemeteries. The Pasay City Police continue to monitor suspicious activities to protect residents and visitors alike.
