Pasig City Judges Receive Threatening Emails
Pasig City judges have been warned of imminent danger during ongoing court hearings. Two threatening email messages were sent to the Pasig Hall of Justice on the morning of July 16, stating that two judges would be shot while trials were underway. Authorities are taking the threat seriously to ensure the safety of the judges and everyone present.
The first email bluntly warned, “Mag-ingat ang mga judges ng Pasig Hall of Justice ngayong July 16 mayroong dalawa sa kanila ang babarilin sa kalagitnaan ng hearing. Maging mapagmatyag mga hukom ang target namin ngayon araw (Judges of the Pasig Hall of Justice, be careful this July 16. Two of you will be shot in the middle of a hearing. Be vigilant, judges, you are our target today).”
Second Email Confirms Gunmen Positions
A follow-up email added urgency to the threat: “Nakapwesto na ang mga gunman. Wag magbakasakali. Lumikas na agad. (The gunmen are in position. Don’t take chances. Evacuate immediately.)” Both emails arrived on the same day, heightening concerns for the court’s security.
Swift Response by Authorities Ensures Safety
Upon receiving the threatening emails, the Pasig Court promptly coordinated with the Pasig City Police. A SWAT team was deployed to the Pasig City Hall of Justice to protect judges, court staff, attendees, and the public. This rapid response aimed to prevent any harm and maintain order during court proceedings.
The Supreme Court’s Office of the Judiciary Marshals launched an immediate investigation in collaboration with the Philippine National Police-Anti-Cybercrime Group and the National Bureau of Investigation Anti-Cybercrime Division. According to a spokesperson, the probe focuses on identifying and capturing those responsible while pursuing appropriate legal actions.
“To protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation and the safety of those concerned, further details remain confidential at this time,” the spokesperson said. Local officials continue to monitor the situation closely, prioritizing the protection of the judiciary and the community.
