PCSO Charity Summit Showcases Healthcare Achievements
MANILA — The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) recently held the 2025 Charity Summit, emphasizing the agency’s strong performance in delivering healthcare and charity services nationwide. The event underscored the importance of collaboration in expanding the reach of these vital programs.
More than 250 attendees from government agencies, non-government organizations, civic groups, and beneficiaries gathered under the theme “Serving More Through Greater Collaboration.” This summit spotlighted PCSO’s accomplishments and outlined upcoming initiatives aimed at supporting underserved and last-mile communities.
Milestones in Medical Assistance and Support
PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles detailed key achievements, including the provision of ₱7.97 billion worth of medical assistance since 2022, benefiting nearly one million patients across the Philippines. Officials reported that these figures represent lives saved, hope restored to families, and improved community health.
Robles emphasized, “These numbers represent lives saved, families given hope, and communities better served. Every patient we help, every hospital we support, and every patient transport vehicle we turn over brings us closer to a healthier and more compassionate Philippines.”
Expanding Medical Transport and Equipment Programs
The Medical Transport Vehicle Donation Program has distributed 1,297 Patient Transport Vehicles (PTVs) nationwide, nearing the target of 1,724 PTVs by the end of the year. This program aims to provide critical transport services to remote and island communities.
Furthermore, the Institutional Partnership Program has released ₱68.28 million to 122 institutions since 2022. These institutions care for children, orphans, indigent patients, and persons with special needs, underscoring PCSO’s commitment to vulnerable sectors.
Under the Medical Equipment Donation Program, PCSO has delivered ₱103 million worth of medical equipment to 14 hospitals since 2022. In the first quarter of 2025 alone, nearly ₱22 million worth of equipment was provided, enhancing hospital capacities to serve patients effectively.
Unity in Charity: A Collaborative Approach
PCSO Chairperson Judge Felix P. Reyes (ret.) highlighted the power of collaboration, stating that charity thrives when government, civil society, and the private sector unite. Community members noted that PCSO’s impact is amplified through collective efforts and active listening.
“The true power of charity lives not on individual acts but in the synergy of many working together – whether you are from government, civil society, or the private sector. PCSO has long stood as a pillar of public service, and we know that our impact is magnified when we listen,” Reyes shared.
Future Initiatives to Reach More Filipinos
Looking forward, PCSO plans to strengthen partnerships with government hospitals through its Medical Equipment Program. The agency will also expand care by deploying mobile dental clinic units and sea patient transport vehicles to island and last-mile communities.
These efforts align with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to modernize and enhance the country’s healthcare system. Local leaders noted the critical role of NGOs and community organizations in broadening program reach and effectiveness.
Summit Calls for Stronger Partnerships
The summit united partners from government, civil society, and the private sector in a shared commitment to increase access to healthcare and charity services for all Filipinos. Officials reported that beyond celebrating achievements, the event served as a powerful call to deepen collaboration and maximize program impact.
Robles concluded, “As we gather here in this summit, let us take home three important truths: first, that collaboration makes our mission possible; second, that every program is not just about numbers, but about lives and families touched; and third, that together, we can and we will serve more Filipinos in greater and more meaningful ways.”
