The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency confirmed that the fallen officer was Raffy Escobido, 31, an intelligence officer assigned to the PDEA Regional Office Calabarzon Special Enforcement Team. “Agent Escobido passed away while undergoing intensive care in a hospital on Wednesday,” sources said. “He succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head sustained during the buy-bust operation.”

The buy-bust operation took place late Sunday night in the open parking lot of a local mall. Authorities aimed to apprehend a suspect known as “Mark” and his accomplice. However, the suspects sensed the presence of the operatives and made a desperate attempt to escape.
According to local leaders, “The two suspects quickly fled in a dark gray Geely vehicle with plate number NIN-5940. They fired shots at the arresting officers as they sped away, managing to evade capture.”
Despite the suspects’ escape, PDEA remains determined to bring them to justice. Director-General Isagani Nerez expressed deep condolences to Escobido’s family and vowed to pursue those responsible without rest.
