Major Drug Bust in Angeles City Yields P1 Billion Shabu
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) successfully seized a massive amount of suspected shabu valued at P1 billion during a search operation at an abandoned house in Barangay Pampang, Angeles City. This high-value seizure took place on Orchid Street, Timog Hills Subdivision, last Sunday.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the seized drugs were packed inside 155 clear plastic bags, each weighing around one kilogram. The house where the operation occurred was vacant, and the primary suspect, a Chinese national linked to the property, remains at large.
Suspect Faces Charges Amid Ongoing Investigation
The individual implicated in this case is facing charges under Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Authorities are actively pursuing the suspect as part of their intensified crackdown on illegal drug activities.
Link Between Recent Operations
Less than two weeks prior, PDEA also confiscated over 35 kilograms of shabu in a separate buy-bust operation in Angeles City. That operation resulted in the arrest of a Chinese national and a Filipino accomplice. Reports indicate that both drug operations are interconnected, revealing a persistent tracking effort targeting syndicates and their sources.
“The two drug operations mentioned are linked to each other. What you see is the outcome of persistent tracking of previous operations targeting individuals connected to syndicated drug trafficking to include their sources,” community leaders said.
Collaborative Efforts Enhance Drug Enforcement
The recent drug bust was supported by various agencies, including the Armed Forces Counterintelligence Group, the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA), and the Philippine National Police. This collaboration highlights the government’s commitment to dismantling organized drug networks and curbing the flow of illegal substances in the region.
Authorities continue to intensify their campaign, aiming to bring those responsible to justice while protecting communities from the dangers of drug proliferation.
