PDEA Seizes P20 Million Ketamine Shipment at Clark
Authorities intercepted a ketamine shipment worth around P20 million at the Port of Clark, Pampanga, on Wednesday. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 3 revealed that approximately five kilos of the controlled substance were hidden inside a roll of data cable.
This ketamine seizure at Clark Freeport was uncovered following a tip from PDEA’s Investigation Service, which had received intelligence from a foreign source. The shipment came from Belgium and arrived at the port on July 24.
Ketamine Classified as Dangerous Drug
Ketamine is classified under Philippine law as a dangerous drug and is known for its hallucinogenic effects. PDEA emphasized that samples of the confiscated substance will undergo forensic and confirmatory analysis at their regional laboratory.
Multi-Agency Collaboration Leads to Success
This successful operation was the product of coordinated efforts among multiple agencies. These included the PDEA Clark International Airport Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group, Bureau of Customs-Port of Clark, National Bureau of Investigation Pampanga District Office, PNP Aviation Security Group 3, PNP Drug Enforcement Group, and Mabalacat City Police.
Local authorities noted that such inter-agency cooperation is vital in combating illegal drug trafficking and safeguarding communities.
