PDEA Seizes P3.4 Million Shabu in Cotabato City Operation
Government anti-drug agents successfully confiscated shabu worth around P3.4 million on Tuesday, May 20, during a buy-bust operation in Cotabato City. The operation also resulted in the arrest of a high-value target, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) office led the operation. The suspect, known by the aliases “Jabbar” and “Moktar,” was apprehended at a residential address on 039 Al-Salam Street, Rosary Heights 3.
Details of the Seizure and Arrest
Authorities recovered roughly 500 grams of shabu, neatly packed into 10 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets. Alongside the illegal drugs, officers confiscated a gray Mitsubishi Mirage vehicle, various identification cards, bank and financial documents, and the buy-bust money used in the operation.
According to community leaders, this arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies and local government units to curb illegal drug activities and promote peace and order within the region.
Legal Charges and Custody Status
The suspect is now in the custody of the PDEA BARMM jail facility. He faces formal charges under Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, for violation of drug laws.
