Personalized Student Beep Cards Launch September 15 Nationwide

Personalized Student Beep Cards Roll Out Nationwide

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced that personalized student Beep cards will be available starting September 15. These student Beep cards offer commuters an automatic 50% discount on train fares, easing the daily travel expenses for students across Metro Manila.

According to officials, the student Beep cards can be claimed at any of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) stations. This initiative aims to streamline the process for student passengers who regularly commute by train.

How to Avail Personalized Student Beep Cards

To obtain the personalized student Beep cards, passengers must present a valid school ID or proof of school registration. Dedicated Beep card printing booths are set up at each MRT and LRT station to facilitate the issuance of these discounted cards.

Community members noted that the cards will be valid for one year and can be renewed annually with the same documentation. This system ensures that students continuously benefit from the discounted fares throughout their academic tenure.

Discounted Cards for PWDs and Senior Citizens Coming Soon

Former DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon revealed that discounted Beep cards for people with disabilities (PWDs) and senior citizens will also be available within the month. Unlike the student cards, these discounted cards for PWDs and senior citizens do not require renewal once claimed.

Officials confirmed that no forms will be necessary to avail these cards, simplifying the process for these vulnerable groups. This move reflects the government’s commitment to making public transportation more accessible and affordable for all sectors.

Benefits and Impact of the Discounted Beep Cards

Local leaders noted that the personalized student Beep cards, along with upcoming cards for PWDs and senior citizens, will significantly reduce the commuting costs for thousands of Filipinos. This initiative supports students’ education by easing transportation burdens and encourages the use of mass transit systems.

Furthermore, the no-renewal policy for PWD and senior citizen cards will provide lasting convenience, allowing beneficiaries to focus on their daily activities without worrying about repeated application processes.
