Pharmacy Burglary Hits Barangay Jagobiao in Mandaue City
CEBU CITY – A pharmacy in Barangay Jagobiao, Mandaue City suffered a pharmacy burglary early Tuesday morning, June 3, resulting in the theft of at least P100,000 in cash. Authorities reported that the stolen money represented the pharmacy’s entire day’s earnings.
Police discovered a large hole in the concrete wall of the establishment, which is believed to be the burglars’ point of entry. “The burglars may have been able to enter the establishment by making a hole on the wall,” local law enforcement sources said.
Damaged Vault and Failed ATM Break-in Attempt
According to Police Lt. Col. Mercy Villaro, information officer of the Mandaue City Police Office, the stolen cash was kept inside a vault that the burglars destroyed to access the money. The suspects also targeted an automated teller machine inside the pharmacy but failed to break its vault.
Villaro added that the crime likely involved three to five individuals. “It was possible that three to five persons were involved in the burglary,” she noted. The police have launched a thorough investigation to identify and apprehend the suspects.
The pharmacy burglary has raised concerns among local business owners about security measures in the area. Authorities continue to gather evidence and review surveillance footage to aid their investigation.
