PAF C-130 Delivers Vital Storm Relief to Batanes
The Philippine Air Force C-130 aircraft played a crucial role in delivering relief supplies to storm-battered Batanes and evacuating 98 stranded residents to Manila over the weekend. This mission highlights the PAF’s commitment to rapid response and humanitarian aid in times of crisis.
Collaborating with the Armed Forces of the Philippines and various government agencies, the operation aimed to support communities affected by consecutive storms. These typhoons brought heavy rainfall, causing travel disruptions in the northernmost province of the country.
Essential Supplies and Evacuations
Flying from Pasay City and Tuguegarao, the PAF C-130 reached Basco carrying 150 family food packs, 375 hygiene kits, and 14 boxes of medical supplies for the Batanes General Hospital. In addition, the plane transported four solar panels, batteries, and an inverter to help the provincial health office maintain power during outages.
After completing the delivery, the aircraft safely brought back residents stranded by canceled ferry and commercial flights, ensuring their prompt return to Manila.
Coordinated Efforts Among Agencies
This mission was a coordinated effort involving the Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and the Office of Civil Defense. PAF personnel and reservists worked closely with counterparts from the Philippine Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine National Police, AFP Northern Luzon Command, and Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit.
The Philippine Air Force reiterated its readiness and dedication to supporting Filipino communities during emergencies. Local leaders noted the vital role of such missions in bringing relief and hope to affected areas.
