Mobilizes 329 soldiers for election security
As the May 12 midterm elections approach, the Philippine Army mobilizes 329 soldiers for a contingency force aimed at keeping peace and order in the National Capital Region (NCR). This dedicated group is ready to respond swiftly to any untoward incidents during the election period.
Specialized teams included in the force
The contingency force is composed of several specialized units. These include the Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) team tasked with crowd control, the K-9 unit trained to detect explosives, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team, medical personnel ready to provide emergency care, and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) team prepared for hazardous situations.
Assets and alerts to support election safety
Supporting these troops, 31 military assets such as trucks and ambulances stand by for immediate deployment if needed. Additionally, all Philippine Army Emergency Response Companies (ERCs) have been placed under Blue Alert Status from May 11 to May 14, 2025. This heightened alert ensures rapid response to any emergencies during the crucial election days.
Wider army deployment across the country
Beyond the NCR, various Philippine Army Major Units have deployed a total of 23,591 personnel to perform election-related duties nationwide. Meanwhile, an additional 21,509 soldiers remain on standby, ready to be called into action if the situation demands.
Army Chief emphasizes commitment
Army Chief Lieutenant General Roy Galido assures the public of the military’s dedication. He states, “We are committed to maintaining national stability by continuing our operations against threat groups while also assisting with the transport of poll materials and ensuring the safety of election personnel.”
The Philippine Army’s proactive measures aim to uphold peace and secure a smooth voting process during the midterm elections.
