Philippine Army Mobilizes Troops in North Luzon for Training
The Philippine Army has urged the public not to worry about the sight of military trucks moving through North Luzon. This troop movement is part of a bilateral large-scale logistics training exercise with the United States Army, local officials noted.
According to a spokesperson, Col. Louie Dema-ala, the Philippine Army and the U.S. Army Pacific will conduct this training from June 16 to June 18, 2025. The goal is to boost operational mobility, interoperability, and readiness between the two forces.
Exercise Details and Route
The exercise involves around 1,200 Filipino and American soldiers from the Philippine Army’s 5th Infantry Division and the U.S. Army’s 25th Infantry Division. Participating troops will use military vehicles to travel from Fort Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija to Camp Melchor Dela Cruz in Isabela. Their route will take them through various towns in Central and Northern Luzon, the Army spokesperson added.
The Philippine Army emphasized that this movement is part of Exercise Salaknib Phase 2 and assured the public that it poses no threat. “Community members are advised to be aware of the convoy’s presence on roads and to exercise caution while driving near military vehicles,” Dema-ala said.
Strategic Importance of the Training
Lt. Gen. Roy Galido, Army chief, highlighted that large-scale logistics and sustainment are strategic priorities. “Strengthening our logistics capability, particularly for large-scale deployment and ground force sustainment, is vital in our shift to external security operations,” he explained.
This training marks a significant step in enhancing the Philippine Army’s readiness to defend territorial integrity and improve joint operations with allied forces.
