Philippine Coast Guard Motorcycle Fire Causes Collision
A Philippine Coast Guard motorcycle fire led to a serious accident on the northbound lane of Roxas Boulevard near UN Avenue in Ermita, Manila. The incident occurred late Sunday evening, June 1, involving a motorcycle and two vehicles. The crash happened around 11:45 p.m. in front of Bay View Park Hotel, affecting a Toyota Innova, a Mitsubishi Xpander, and the PCG motorcycle.
The motorcycle, driven by 30-year-old Jhon Mark Ordoñes, a member of the Coast Guard Education, Training and Doctrine Command in Binondo, was heading northbound when it hit the left rear side of the Toyota Innova. After the initial collision, the motorcycle then struck the rear of the Mitsubishi Xpander. Immediately after the impact, the motorcycle caught fire.
Injuries and Vehicle Damage Reported
Ordoñes sustained injuries from the crash and was quickly taken to Manila Doctors Hospital for medical treatment. Authorities confirmed that the drivers of the other vehicles were unharmed. The Toyota Innova was driven by 46-year-old Telly Masilag Lucas, a Paco resident, while the Mitsubishi Xpander was operated by 47-year-old seafarer Waldemar De Ocampo of Imus, Cavite.
All three vehicles suffered damage, but officials have yet to determine the full extent or cost of the repairs. Investigators from the Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MDTEU) are currently examining the circumstances surrounding the crash. They aim to identify the causes and assign responsibility where appropriate.
