Philippine Travel Agencies Association Brings Travel Expo to Iloilo
ILOILO CITY – The Philippine Travel Agencies Association is set to hold the country’s largest travel exposition in Iloilo City and province. The event aims to showcase the best travel deals to Ilonggos and promote tourism both locally and globally. Sources familiar with the matter shared, “We are bringing best travel deals to all Ilonggos. We are not only promoting locally, but also globally.”
The 32nd PTAA Travel-Tour Expo will take place from June 6 to 8 at the Iloilo Convention Center. Unlike previous years, this edition will feature only travel agencies from the Visayas and Mindanao regions, excluding those from Metro Manila.
Empowering Regional Travel Agencies and Highlighting Iloilo’s Appeal
Organizers explained that limiting participation to Visayas and Mindanao agencies is a strategic choice meant to strengthen the local travel market without overwhelming it with Metro Manila-based companies. “We want to empower the travel agencies in the Visayas and Mindanao. We are not allowing the ones from Metro Manila as we do not want to kill the market,” community leaders said.
Iloilo was selected as the host city because of its rising status as a travel destination and its accessibility, especially with the increase in international flights. Furthermore, the province’s designation as a UNESCO City of Gastronomy has boosted its profile on the travel map.
Comprehensive Travel Services and Business Opportunities at the Expo
The three-day expo will offer more than just travel agencies. Participating airlines, resorts, and hotels will also be present, creating a one-stop shop for all travel needs. Local experts noted, “It’s a one-stop shop when it comes to travel.”
Additionally, business-to-business sessions will be held among the exhibitors to foster partnerships and collaboration. The event is organized in partnership with the Iloilo MICE Alliance and has support from the Department of Tourism Region 6, as well as the Iloilo City and provincial governments.
