Pinedas Continue to Dominate Pampanga Politics
The political landscape in Pampanga remains firmly under the influence of the Pineda family. Following the recent May 12 midterm elections, the mother-son duo of Lilia and Dennis Pineda secured the province’s highest executive roles.
Lilia Pineda will reclaim her previous position as governor, having garnered 707,782 votes. She triumphed over independent candidates Danilo Baylon, who received 475,200 votes, and Amado Santos with 6,835 votes.
Meanwhile, Dennis Pineda won the vice governorship with 748,990 votes, surpassing former governor Eddie Panlilio, who obtained 385,926 votes.
Stronghold Maintained Through Local Party
These election results came from 97.77% of the processed election returns. Pampanga, with 1,674,789 registered voters, stands as the second most vote-rich province in Central Luzon.
The continued dominance of the Pinedas is partly credited to the establishment of their local political party, Kapanalig at Kambilan ning Memalen Pampanga (KAMBILAN), founded by Lilia Pineda in 2012. This party has played a crucial role in solidifying their support base and sustaining their grip on power in the province.
With the Pinedas continue to dominate Pampanga politics, their influence shows no signs of waning as they leverage both their political machinery and public support to maintain control.
