PNP Directorate for Comptrollership Appoints New Chief
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has appointed Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo, previously the Police Regional Office (PRO) Central Luzon chief, as the new head of the PNP Directorate for Comptrollership. This key leadership change was announced through Special Order No. NHQ-SO-URA-2025-4293, dated June 19 and effective as of June 20.
Brig. Gen. Fajardo, who also serves concurrently as the PNP spokesperson, takes over the role from Maj. Gen. Neil Buaqueña Alinsañgan. Maj. Gen. Alinsañgan, in turn, has been reassigned to lead the Eastern Mindanao Area Police Command under the same order.
Role and Responsibilities of the Comptrollership Directorate
The Directorate for Comptrollership is responsible for managing the PNP’s financial resources, ensuring transparency, and overseeing budgetary operations. Brig. Gen. Fajardo’s appointment signals a continued focus on strengthening financial management within the national police force.
Leadership Changes in Regional Police Offices
Following Brig. Gen. Fajardo’s new assignment, Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Ibasco Peñones has been named the new PRO Central Luzon director. Peñones was previously assigned as the PRO Western Visayas director as of last Wednesday.
Similarly, Brig. Gen. Jerry Villas Protacio has been appointed as the new PRO Cagayan Valley director. Protacio previously headed the Information Technology Management Service before his reassignment.
These appointments were formalized through General Orders No. 12222 and 12224, both dated June 19. Local officials noted that these leadership changes aim to enhance the operational efficiency of the police force across multiple regions.
