PNP Emergency 911 Calls Reach Over 60 Percent Success Rate
MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has reported that more than 60 percent of emergency 911 calls have been successfully handled or processed since the program’s revitalization. This milestone was shared by PNP chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III during the agency’s 124th anniversary celebration on August 12, 2025.
“Since the launch of our revitalized PNP emergency 911 command center on August 8, 2024, up to June 15, 2025, we have received over 17.5 million calls. More than 10.5 million or 60.34 percent have been successfully handled or processed,” Torre stated, emphasizing the effectiveness of the system improvements.
Implementation of 5-Minute Response Policy
In line with the 911 emergency program, the PNP introduced a 5-minute response policy starting June this year. This initiative aims to enhance the speed and efficiency of police assistance to emergency calls.
Between June 2 and August 10, 2025, the PNP handled 3,574 emergency calls requiring police intervention. Officials reported that nearly 94 percent of these calls received a response within five minutes, translating to more than nine out of ten urgent cases addressed promptly.
Commitment to Public Service and Community Trust
As the PNP marks its 124th year, Gen. Torre challenged the force to build on its achievements. “The question before us is not what we have done but what more we can do,” he said during his speech.
“As the chief of the PNP, I call on every officer and personnel to continue embodying the true spirit of public service. Let us be the police force that people not only respect but truly trust,” he added, urging all members to uphold integrity and dedication.
Focus on Speed, Visibility, and Community Impact
The PNP chief highlighted that the 5-minute response policy prioritizes speed, visibility, and community impact. These elements are essential to strengthening public confidence and ensuring timely assistance during emergencies.
Community members and local leaders have noted the positive changes brought by the revamped 911 system, which aims to provide efficient and reliable emergency response nationwide.
