PNP Prepares for Marcos 4th Sona
MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) held a command conference at Camp Crame early Tuesday morning to prepare for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s fourth State of the Nation Address (Sona). This meeting demonstrated the agency’s commitment to ensuring safety during this critical national event.
The PNP gathered key leaders, including the chief of the National Capital Region Police Office, district directors, and heads from the national headquarters’ directorates for operations, investigation, intelligence, and police community relations. Together, they mapped out security strategies for the upcoming occasion.
Coordinated Efforts to Secure the Event
According to sources, the PNP emphasized its readiness to uphold its mandate of protecting the public and securing high-profile national events like the Sona. Early preparations have involved close coordination with the House of Representatives’ sergeant-at-arms and other relevant offices.
PNP Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III revealed that these collaborative efforts started last Monday to ensure seamless security arrangements for the president’s annual address to Congress.
Marking the 20th Congress Opening
President Marcos is set to deliver his fourth Sona on July 28, officially opening the 20th Congress. The PNP’s early planning reflects their dedication to maintaining peace and order during this significant political event.
Local leaders noted, “The PNP stands ready to protect every Filipino and secure the nation’s critical events. We are committed to making sure the Sona proceeds smoothly and safely.”
