The Philippine National Police (PNP) has ramped up its alert status starting May 3, a full nine days ahead of the national and local elections scheduled on May 12.
At precisely 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, the PNP shifted to full alert, a heightened state that will remain until 11:59 p.m. on May 15, three days after Election Day.
This move comes directly from the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who emphasized the need for a smooth, peaceful electoral process.
PNP Chief Police General Rommel Francisco Marbil declared, “The PNP will be on full alert starting today, May 3, to ensure that the upcoming elections on May 12 will be peaceful, fair, and orderly. There is no place for violence or intimidation in a democratic process.”
To uphold this commitment, the PNP will coordinate closely with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and other government agencies. Marbil assured the public that police personnel are fully dedicated to maintaining peace and order throughout the election period.
All Reactionary Standby Support Forces (RSSF), Quick Reaction Forces (QRF), and regional police units have been placed on immediate standby. Their mission: to respond swiftly to any untoward incidents that might threaten the integrity of the elections.
Expect intensified police presence in every polling center and other sensitive areas nationwide. The PNP vows to protect the sanctity of voters’ rights and to ensure that every Filipino can cast their ballot freely and safely.
The PNP also urges the public to stay alert, report any suspicious activity, and cooperate fully with law enforcers deployed to keep the elections secure.
This election season, the watchword is vigilance. The PNP stands ready—poised to safeguard democracy at every turn.
