Authorities Seize P34M Worth of Shabu in Bacoor Operation
Government anti-narcotics agencies successfully seized P34 million worth of shabu during a buy-bust operation in Bacoor City, Cavite. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) led the operation that resulted in the arrest of a high-value target (HVT) drug suspect on Saturday, May 17.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the suspect, known by the alias “Eugene” and believed to be from Tondo, Manila, was apprehended around 3:00 p.m. at an open parking area of a mall in Barangay Habay 2.
Joint Effort by PNP and PDEA Leads to Arrest
The operation was a coordinated effort between the PDEA Regional Office 4A Special Enforcement Team 1 and the Philippine National Police (PNP) Cavite Maritime Police Station. After the buy-bust transaction was completed, the suspect was immediately taken into custody.
Law enforcement officials recovered approximately 500 grams of suspected shabu from the suspect. The seized drugs are estimated to be worth P34 million, alongside the buy-bust money.
Charges Filed Against Suspect
The suspect now faces criminal charges for violating Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Local experts confirm that this law imposes strict penalties on the sale and distribution of illegal drugs.
This successful operation underscores the ongoing efforts of Philippine authorities to disrupt illegal drug trade and apprehend high-value targets across the country.
