PNP Reassigns Four Ranking Officials in Key Posts
The Philippine National Police has announced the reassignment of four ranking officials to new positions this year. The move, involving the Directorate for Comptrollership head Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo, aims to strengthen leadership across various commands, officials reported.
According to the order released on September 6, acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. assigned Brig. Gen. Fajardo to the Area Police Command–Eastern Mindanao. This significant reshuffle reflects ongoing efforts to optimize police operations in critical regions.
Eastern Mindanao Sees Leadership Changes
In addition to Fajardo’s transfer, Brig. Gen. Leon Victor Rosete of the Area Police Command–Southern Luzon was also reassigned to the Area Police Command–Eastern Mindanao. Community members said these changes are expected to bolster law enforcement efforts in Eastern Mindanao.
New Comptrollership and Training Institute Leadership
Maj. Gen. Westrimundo Obinque, previously heading the National Police Training Institute (NPTI), has taken over as the new Directorate for Comptrollership chief, replacing Brig. Gen. Fajardo. Local leaders noted that Obinque’s experience will be vital in managing police financial and administrative matters.
Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Christopher Birung was appointed as the new head of the NPTI, succeeding Obinque. These appointments also took effect on September 6, as outlined in the official directive.
Spokesperson Role Also Reassigned
Last month, Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo was relieved from her role as PNP spokesperson, a position she had held since 2022. Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño, chief of the Public Information Office, now serves as the PNP spokesperson, sources said.
Fajardo previously balanced the dual roles of spokesperson and comptrollership director under former PNP chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III, whose brief 85-day term began in June 2025. These leadership transitions mark a new chapter for the PNP as it continues to adapt and respond to evolving challenges.
