PNPA Officer Faces Charges for Sexual Harassment Incident
An officer at the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) now faces charges for acts of lasciviousness following accusations of sexual harassment against a male cadet. The case was formally filed with the Silang-Amadeo Municipal Circuit Trial Court, local authorities said.
The incident reportedly took place on July 31 inside the PNPA campus. According to a Calabarzon police report, the suspect, who was intoxicated at the time, allegedly asked the victim to undress and give him a massage. However, the situation escalated when the suspect touched the cadet inappropriately and performed oral sex on him.
Victim’s Safety and Current Status
The victim sought help from a duty guard and their superior, which led to the suspect’s immediate arrest. Police confirmed the suspect is a police major assigned as a tactical officer at the academy, while the victim is a male cadet undergoing training.
Authorities have recommended psychological debriefing for the victim to ensure his well-being. “Right now, all I can confirm is that the victim is safe and well taken care of,” said a local police official. Due to the sensitive nature of gender-based violence investigations, further details remain confidential.
Ongoing Investigations and Official Responses
Law enforcement continues to investigate the case thoroughly. Meanwhile, official statements from the PNPA, the Philippine National Police, and the National Police Commission are still pending, according to sources.
This case highlights the urgent need for strict measures and vigilance within police training institutions to protect cadets from harassment and abuse.
