PNPA Officer Faces Dismissal Over Alleged Sexual Harassment
A Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) officer is facing dismissal following serious allegations of sexual harassment involving a cadet. The National Police Commission (Napolcom) confirmed that the police major is under investigation for the incident that reportedly took place inside the academy camp.
According to sources, the officer allegedly intoxicated the cadet, undressed him, and committed acts of sexual abuse at the PNPA facility in Silang, Cavite, on July 31. These disturbing allegations have prompted swift action from authorities.
Investigation Underway Amid Serious Charges
Napolcom Vice Chairperson and Executive Officer Rafael Calinisan revealed in a recent interview that he has directed the agency’s Inspection, Monitoring, and Investigation Service to conduct a motu proprio investigation into the case. He emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, “If this is proven true, it’s clearly dismissal from the service. There’s no bargaining there.”
Meanwhile, local police officials confirmed that the police major has already been charged with acts of lasciviousness before the municipal circuit trial court. This step marks the formal beginning of legal proceedings against the accused.
Community and Institutional Response
While the Philippine National Police Academy and the Philippine National Police have yet to issue formal statements regarding the allegations, local leaders and community members expressed concern over maintaining the integrity of the institution. They underscored the importance of protecting cadets and ensuring a safe training environment.
The case continues to develop as investigations proceed and the courts take up the charges. Authorities vow to uphold justice and accountability in this troubling matter.
