PNPA Officer Faces Dismissal Over Cadet Sexual Harassment
The Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) is taking swift action after a police major allegedly committed sexual harassment against a cadet. The alleged incident, which involved the police major intoxicating, undressing, and performing oral sex on the cadet, took place inside the PNPA camp in Silang, Cavite on July 31.
The PNPA officer faces dismissal following this grave accusation. Authorities have confirmed that the academy will file an administrative case against the police major involved. This move underlines the academy’s commitment to uphold discipline and protect its cadets.
Administrative Case Filed Against PNPA Officer
In a formal statement, the PNPA announced, “An administrative case will be filed by the Philippine National Police Academy against the said personnel.” The academy also emphasized that it is strengthening internal protocols, including more rigorous vetting processes for all personnel assigned to PNPA.
The Silang police chief, Lt. Col. Louie Gonzaga, informed local sources that the police major has already been charged with acts of lasciviousness before the municipal circuit trial court. Meanwhile, the cadet victim continues to receive psychological support, and the PNPA appeals for the protection of his privacy.
Institutional Response and Ongoing Investigation
The PNPA made clear that this is an isolated incident. “Rest assured, this is an isolated incident, and the institution does not—and will never—condone such acts,” the academy stressed. In parallel, the National Police Commission Inspection, Monitoring and Investigation Service (Napolcom IMIS) has initiated a motu proprio investigation into the case.
The incident has raised concerns about the welfare and safety of cadets within the academy. In response, PNPA officials are reviewing and tightening their internal controls to prevent similar cases in the future. This includes enhanced supervision and improved support systems for cadets.
