PNR Resumes Calamba to Lucena Route July 14
The Philippine National Railways (PNR) will restart its operations on the Calamba, Laguna to Lucena, Quezon route on Monday, July 14. This reopening follows directives to provide safe and convenient travel for daily commuters.
According to local sources, the PNR trains will serve passengers traveling between Calamba and Lucena, stopping at key stations including San Pablo, as well as several flagstops like Sariaya, Lucutan, Candelaria, and Tiaong (Lalig). Other stops include IRRI, College, Los Baños, Masili, and Pansol.
Fare Details and Discounts
Regular fares between Lucena and Calamba range from ₱15 to ₱105. Meanwhile, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and students with valid identification cards can avail of discounted fares from ₱12 to ₱84. This fare structure ensures accessibility for a broad range of passengers.
Temporary Suspension and Maintenance Work
The railway service temporarily paused operations on this route starting June 17 to conduct major maintenance and repairs on trains serving the line. The maintenance period lasted three to four weeks, aiming to improve reliability and safety for commuters.
Officials noted that this work is part of the preparations to transfer train sets from Manila to Quezon and Bicol. The goal is to enhance public transportation by making it safer, more dependable, and affordable for travelers in these regions.
