Three Suspects Nabbed in Quezon City Carnapping Incident
Authorities arrested three individuals for their alleged involvement in the carnapping of a Mitsubishi Adventure in Quezon City last Saturday, according to officials from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO). The swift response highlights the ongoing efforts to curb vehicle theft in the area.
Following a thorough investigation and coordinated operations, one suspect was apprehended in Quezon City, while the other two were captured in Cavite. This successful operation was made possible through the use of CCTV footage and coordinated police efforts.
CCTV Footage Leads to Arrests
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) reported that the suspects were seen on CCTV riding a red Mitsubishi Mirage. They exited the vehicle and proceeded to steal the Mitsubishi Adventure, which triggered the police investigation. The suspects were identified only by their aliases: “Ralph,” a 25-year-old delivery driver from Brgy. Aurora, Quezon City; “Mark,” 28, a resident of Pasay City; and “Rolando,” 44, a driver residing in Muntinlupa City.
Based on this evidence, the District Anti-Carnapping Unit (DACU) launched a hot pursuit operation. This resulted in Ralph’s arrest at his residence around 5 p.m. on Saturday, where officers also recovered the alleged service vehicle.
Suspects Caught in Cavite with Stolen Vehicle
Shortly after Ralph’s arrest, he disclosed that his accomplices were in Cavite with the stolen Mitsubishi Adventure. Acting on this information, DACU operatives conducted a follow-up operation at around 2 a.m. the next day. They successfully located and apprehended Mark and Rolando in Bacoor, Cavite, recovering the stolen vehicle in their possession.
Criminal Records Reveal Past Offenses
Authorities revealed that the suspects were no strangers to the law. Both Ralph and Rolando had prior arrests related to violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Meanwhile, Mark has an outstanding arrest warrant for robbery issued in 2023. Officials noted, “These findings emphasize the gravity of their criminal involvement and the importance of their capture.”
Suspects Face Charges under Anti-Carnapping Law
The suspects are currently under police custody and will undergo summary investigations for violating the New Anti-Carnapping Law of 2016. These proceedings will be conducted before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office as authorities continue to pursue justice in this case.
