Police Intelligence Officer Shot Nine Times in Makati City
A police intelligence officer was critically injured after being robbed and shot nine times in front of his 17-year-old child at a car wash in Makati City on Friday. The shocking attack occurred while the officer was having his vehicle cleaned at the corner of Edison and Faraday streets in Barangay San Isidro.
According to sources, the two assailants approached the officer and forcibly tried to snatch his necklace. When he resisted, they opened fire, hitting him once in the shoulder and eight times across his stomach, thigh, and knee. His minor child witnessed the entire violent incident, leaving the teenager deeply traumatized.
Gunmen Target Officer’s Service Firearm and Valuables
Authorities revealed the suspects took the officer’s service firearm, wallet, and necklace after the shooting. “This intelligence officer of ours is wearing a necklace. That’s also one of the things our investigators at the Makati police station saw, which was the reason why they actually grabbed him and tried to take his jewelry,” a local official said in Filipino. “Our officer tried to fight back, but there were two suspects or gun shooters.”
CCTV footage shows the officer attempting to draw his gun but failing as the attackers quickly pointed their weapons at him. The shootout also wounded a nearby security guard from a stray bullet. Investigators recovered at least 14 spent cartridges from a 9mm pistol at the crime scene.
Victim’s Role and Current Condition
Sources noted that the victim, who handles sensitive cases, was scheduled to lead another investigation on the day of the attack. After the shooting, he was rushed from St. Clare’s Medical Center to Manila Doctors Hospital for treatment. His family has since reported that he is now in stable condition.
Meanwhile, the police have provided financial aid to the officer’s family while actively pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the suspects. The local police force continues to coordinate efforts to bring justice for the wounded officer and support his family during this difficult time.
