Police Lieutenant Colonel Arrested for 2024 Killing Colleague
MANILA, Philippines — Authorities arrested a police lieutenant colonel who confessed to the 2024 killing of a police master sergeant, according to sources from the Philippine National Police Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP IMEG). The police lieutenant colonel had been under restrictive custody since December 2024 at the NCRPO Regional Headquarters Support Unit after admitting involvement in the fatal incident.
Details of the Arrest and Crime
At approximately 2:18 p.m. on June 24, 2025, joint PNP units executed the arrest warrant against P/Lt. Col. Roderick Tawanna Pascua at the NCRPO RHSU custodial facility. The warrant, issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 271 in Taguig City on May 19, did not recommend bail. Pascua stands accused of murdering Police Master Executive Sergeant Emmanuel De Asis.
The killing reportedly occurred on November 28, 2024, after Pascua allegedly found De Asis in “intimate relations” with his wife at their apartment in the Married Non-Officers’ Quarters, Camp Bagong Diwa. Following the fatal shooting, reports indicate Pascua dismembered the body using a hacksaw and transported the remains to his ancestral home in Baguio City, where he buried them.
Current Custody and Legal Proceedings
Following the arrest, Pascua is being held at IMEG’s custodial facility in Camp Crame, Quezon City. Authorities plan to transfer him to the Taguig court to face charges. The PNP emphasized their commitment to ensuring justice amid this serious breach of law enforcement integrity.
